Frugal Friday – Cleaning Cloths

I am compiling a list of 52 ways to be frugal or save money in 2017. The plan is to post one each week on Friday. Most, if not all, of these tips will be things that we actually do. However, if there is an idea that you want me to share let me know!

Tip #3 – Cleaning Cloths

I only use about 2 rolls of paper towels per year for our family of 6. We only use them for really nasty messes. For everything else we use cloth. For garage/outdoor messes, painting, etc… we use old socks, cut up t-shirts, and cut up towels.

For general cleaning I use these microfiber cloths. They pick up really well. They even clean up stuck on messes. For most messes you only need water so my kids can easily help without me worrying. They are reusable and should last for about 6 years!

Name brand paper towels can be almost $3 per roll! Say we use 3 rolls a month for a year…that is $108! My cloths cost me $24 that is am $84 savings EACH year!

My running total of money saved per year:

Napkins – $18

Dryer Balls – $72

Cleaning Cloths – $84

Yearly total = $164

Are you starting to see how little changes can make a big impact?
